Donald Trump said on Monday that he has bet on an experimental drug that is used in treating thalassaemia.
The businessman has long touted the drug as a possible cure for his condition.
Trump’s bet on beta thalaasemia is the latest twist in a string of Trump-linked financial investments that could make the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee the richest man in the world, if he manages to make it to the general election.
Trump, who was a major fundraiser for the Trump-backed campaign in 2016, has said he would like to invest in a company that could provide the drug to the millions of people suffering from thalas disease.
Trump has said that he will not donate to third-party candidates and that he would prefer to focus on the GOP.
